Hovering above the urban hustle of Pike Place Market and Seattle s downtown, The Nest Thompson Seattle s iconic rooftop bar, cocktail lounge, and terrace showcases views of Elliott Bay and the Olympic Mountain Range beyond. The Nest specializes in handcrafted cocktails, wine, and small snacks featuring seasonal produce highlighting the Pacific Northwest. And while the plush bar buzzes with activity, cozy corners hidden amid lush greenery beckon those seeking a more intimate experience.
With our bar program at the Nest currently undergoing a shift towards more of a DIY focused and modern drinks menu, we are looking for a motivated and passionate individual to take on the all-important task of managing our increasing list of house-made recipes. These will include but are not limited to, lacto-fermentation, dairy clarification, oil washes, macro-infusion,vacuum-infusion and sous vide cordialing.
This is a position we are looking to fill with a candidate who perhaps possesses more culinary experience than bar experience and yet has an interest in developing in both areas. The ideal candidate is someone who loves food and drink is passionate and enthusiastic about learning. This role will also be responsible for maintaining pars are juices and making sure our perishable inventory is properly stored and labeled. This role will also work together with our GM to collaborate on seasonal menu changes and have an impact on the future development of our program.
This is a part-time hourly pay position. However, additional shifts are likely to be offered in our tip pool as a bar back, as we begin expanding into our Summer hours. At six months of service, colleagues are vested in the time they have been accruing. Full Time & Part Time Colleagues are eligible for vacation time.
Hire Date Through Four Years 10 Days or 80 hours Five to Nine Years 15 Days or 120 hours 10 years or greater 20 Days or 160 hours Sick Leave: Full time, part time and on-call colleagues accrue and have the right to utilize sick and safe time according to Seattle s Paid Sick and Safe Time Ordinance. As a Tier Three employer all colleagues accrue one (1) hour of paid sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked starting on their hire date, however, these colleagues cannot use their accrued sick time until they have completed 90-days of employment with Hyatt Extended Illness Days: unused sick and safe time in excess of 72 hours converted to Extended Illness Days at the end of each calendar year Holiday Pay: Full-time colleagues are eligible for holiday pay on their first day of employment. The paid holidays for eligible colleagues recognized by our hotel are: New Year s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and 2 pre-approved days for Floating Holidays. Additional perks may include: Colleague Discounted Rates as of the 1st day of employment Complimentary Room Nights for full-time and part-time positions after 90 days of employment Flexible Spending Account Subsidized ORCA Pass or free parking Tuition Reimbursement of $1,000.00 per calendar year Complimentary Dry Cleaning of Uniforms Employee Assistance Program Wage Information: This position receives service charge and additional gratuity per the guests discretion. Hourly role: The hourly rate for this position starts at $17.74 Hourly roles with five-year rates: The hourly starting rate for this position is $17.74. This position also has an established rate for colleagues who remain in the position for five years, which is an additional $0.50 Hourly roles with seven-year rates: The hourly starting rate for this position is $17.74. This position also has an established rate for colleagues who remain in the position for seven years, which is an additional $0.75 Hourly roles with ten-year rates: The hourly starting rate for this position is $17.74. This position also has an established rate for colleagues who remain in the position for ten years, which is an additional $1.00
