Description: Kern Regional Center is one of 21 private, non-profit regional centers contracted by the State of California through the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to coordinate community-based services and support for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Kern Regional Center services over 10,000 individuals in Kern, Inyo and Mono Counties. Our counties cover approximately 22,000 square miles with a population of over 945,000 people.
Kern Regional Center is looking for dedicated a dedicated Housing Specialist. This position will work with community housing partners, housing development organizations, other community agencies and agency staff to facilitate and assess housing development needs and provide assistance to the service coordinators in identifying and fulfilling the housing needs for the individuals supported. Housing specialist will assist with housing opportunities, preservation and available resources. They will participate in development of annual Community Placement Plan/ Community resources Development Plan. They will draft request for proposal for all funding housing projects, coordinate the project process.

Bachelor's Degree in one of the following areas: social work, psychology or closely related field from an accredited university with four years of increasingly responsible experience preferably in programs serving the developmentally disabled to ensure a thorough understanding and knowledge of the developmental model. Three years (Or any combination of education and experience may be considered.) A diverse background in working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Bilingual language fluency (Spanish/English) highly desirable has two years of administrative assistant experience. is detailed-oriented and highly organized. has strong overall computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, as well as industry specific. has strong written and verbal communication skills. Provide timely and responsive customer service, communicating with others respectfully and effectively in person, on the phone, by email or in writing.
