Job Title: Home Equity Officer
Location: Main Branch (3675 S 900 E, Millcreek, UT 84106)
Status: Full-Time (40-hours a week)
Reports to: Mortgage Operations Supervisor
Position Purpose Responsible for the origination and processing of Short-Term, 2nd Mortgages, and Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs). This includes verifying, compiling, and reviewing information to ensure that loan files meet established standards in a timely manner. The specialist will convey credit extension policies in line with Credit Union guidelines and assist with traditional mortgage loan processing, providing general Credit Union information and cross-selling services.
Essential Duties, Skills & Abilities Exhibit outstanding member services skills by applying Granite Credit Union Service Standards and Core Values. Complete and review residential loan applications according to established guidelines, assessing the type and amount of mortgage, borrower assets, liabilities, and employment history. Professionally handle loan origination functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Completes application documents and analyzes preliminary documentation for loan requests. Discuss loan options, credit criteria, interest rates, and required documentation with members, explaining the mortgage process, expected time frames, and lock-in procedures clearly. Collect information from third parties (e.g. VOE, VOM, VOR, VOD, Title, Insurance and Appraisal) Ensure that all information and transactions regarding Credit Union members are kept confidential. Submit mortgage loan applications for underwriting approval and, if necessary, prepare denial letters for applicants. Submit approved loan files to the mortgage loan closer for settlement. Effectively maintain a mortgage loan pipeline and meet turnaround requirements. Maintain a professional and courteous attitude towards all individuals, including employees, members, management staff, board members, and external vendors. Maintain a secure, organized, and neat work area. Attend meetings as required. Promote a professional appearance and attitude. Required Knowledge and Experience Understanding of creditworthiness determination fundamentals.
Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act, US Patriot Act, Fair Lending Act, TRID, RESPA, TIL, HOEPA, HMDA, CIP, and FACTA.
Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, etc.
Education 1-2 years of training and experience in the financial industry.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
