Assists with the treatment and management of patients diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. Sets up and provides patients with information and education on the use of the CPAP Machine and related accessories.
Provides respiratory services in accordance with physician orders by providing assessment, treatment, or care of patients of all ages, including, maternal, neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. Evaluates and responds to the respiratory needs of the patients. Initiates, develops, implements, and makes necessary revisions to the Respiratory Care Plan. Teaches, supervise and counsel the patient and caregivers in the safe effective use of equipment. Delivers/picks-up equipment and supplies to patient's home, office, hospital as assigned. Performs functional tests prior to set-up and delivery of the equipment. Provides education regarding the proper use and maintenance of the equipment and uses manufacturers' service manuals and patient education documentation. Provides services in a cost-effective manner. Orders and maintains all equipment and supplies. Insures adequate stock is available at all times. Insures proper handling and cleaning of all equipment. Completes all maintenance of equipment and document. Document all care and services provided. Ensures documentation meets the regulatory requirements and JCAHO standards. Coordinates the PI activities for services provided. Communicates all patient charges to the biller to ensure patient account accuracy at all times. Actively participates and coordinates marketing services of the product. Assists with audits and denials. DCH Standards: Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation. Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self. Performs essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors and employees. Identifies and reduces unsafe practices that may result in harm to patients, visitors and employees. Recognizes and takes appropriate action to reduce risks and hazards to promote safety for patients, visitors and employees. Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet. Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures. All other duties as assigned. Must have a degree in Respiratory Therapy. Must have a valid certification to practice Respiratory Therapy in the state of Alabama. Must have a minimum of two years of Respiratory Therapy experience. Must have BLS Healthcare Provider CPR within first 90 days of employment. Excellent customer service and organizational skills. Needs to be self-directed, able to prioritize and very good computer skills. Must be able to read, write legibly, speak and comprehend English.

Requirements: Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. Must be able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range. Physical presence onsite is essential.
