About the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites: The mission of the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites is to celebrate, explore and steward all that is authentically wondrous about Indiana. The ISMHS is a forward-thinking, unparalleled resource for learning about and appreciating Indiana and its role in the world. We discover, collect, preserve, interpret and present artifacts and exhibits that showcase the stories of Indiana's natural and cultural history, art and science.
Role Overview :  As the Site Manager at New Harmony State Historic Site, you will work with the Regional Director to develop and implement public & educational programs as well as event coordination for the Historic Site. You will assist or perform the following duties: Programs and Interpretation, Artifact/Property Care, Community Relations, Purchasing and Administrative Duties, Development & Fundraising, and event coordination. 
Salary Statement :  The salary for this position traditionally starts at $58,710 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life: The essential functions of this role are as follows: 
Programs and Interpretation Develop and facilitate programming to serve the New Harmony residents, visitors and interested audiences from the surrounding region.
Consider school programs, outreach, and virtual offerings to further the potential audience learning about the history of the site.
Write grants or seek sponsorships in support of public and educational programs.
Provide research and content for interpreters and tour programs
Develop and manage budgets related to programming expenses and revenue as well as facility rental revenue goals
Artifact/Property Care Responsible for the care, handling, and accountability of historic artifacts belonging to Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites (ISMHS) and located at the New Harmony site. This may include routine cleaning and pest monitoring, inventory, display and security of artifacts, and environmental monitoring of all buildings in coordination with collections staff 
Includes identifying in collaboration with internal historic preservation and facilities teams any necessary building restoration, repair or new construction; provide input for preventive maintenance and capital budgets
Community Relations Responsible for maintaining community relations through support groups, regional networks, and other local outlets
Serve as the primary representative of the ISMHS system within the site, community, and all exterior locations
Purchasing and Administrative Perform all types of ISMHS purchasing procedures and paperwork, as well as money collection documentation, fiscal reports, attendance and other reports  What You'll Need for Success: Must have knowledge of American Association of Museums standards related to care and accountability of historic artifacts
Ability to work with a wide variety of people as well as the general public in a pleasing and non-confrontational manner
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and email applications
The ideal candidate in this role should minimally have a Bachelor's with at least two years of experience in a museum, historic site, or education position. 
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
