ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and works with the attendance supervisor for investigating follow-up actions.* Participates in the recruitment, employment, assignment, evaluation, promotion, and dismissal of certified personnel.* Assists in conducting staff meetings to keep members informed of policy changes, new programs, etc.* Assists newly assigned staff members and assists in their development as appropriate.* Cooperates with college and university personnel regarding teacher training and preparation as directed by the principal.* Works with department heads and faculty as a curriculum leader in those areas as directed by the principal.* Aids in preparing staff development as directed by the principal.* Cooperates in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.* Assumes responsibilities for coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services as directed by the principal.* Works with other administrators to coordinate the overall educational program.* Serves on district committees as directed.* Participates in principal's meetings, negotiation meetings and such meetings as are required or are appropriate.* Works with various members of the Central Office staff on problems in designated areas.* Supervises the development of school bulletins and handbooks.* Supervises student and staff parking.* Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.* Assists teachers in establishing and maintaining good behavior and objectives.* Serves with parent, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.* Assists in the establishment and maintenance of positive relationships with community groups and individuals to foster understanding and support of school objectives and programs.* Maintains liaison with community law enforcement and welfare agencies.* Keeps abreast of changes and development in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals, and attending educational conferences and workshops.* Maintains active and participating membership in professional organizations.* Other duties as may be assigned.

Length of Contract: Two hundred nine (209) contract days.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated by the Execdtive Director of Secondary Education in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Masters Degree. Five years experience as a classroom teacher preferred. Previous experience in a leadership position at the district/state level preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid teaching certificate and valid secondary administrator certificate.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, staff, parents, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to plan budgets and use the mathematical skills required to do so. Maintain accurate records and support documentation for projects under the supervision of the position.

REASONABLE ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to use computer and computer related programs and other technologies needed to perform essential job functions. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to organize and chair or facilitate committees and meetings. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
