Introduction We are seeking skilled individuals to fill immediate openings for Shop and Field Mechanics. This position offers top union pay scale and benefits, with opportunities for advancement. We also encourage applications from previously nonunion individuals. The position is based in Spokane, Washington, with some travel required for Shop Mechanics. Field Mechanics will primarily travel during the Spring, Summer, and Fall.
Role Overview The primary function of a Mechanic includes performing skilled and semi-skilled work involved in the mechanical servicing, maintenance, and repair of the company's fleet and equipment. Additionally, maintaining records related to servicing, maintenance, and repair is essential. Work is performed under the general direction of the shop manager, shop foreman, equipment manager, and project manager.
Qualifications Ability to travel for long periods of time is required. General knowledge and experience in repairing and maintaining construction-related heavy equipment. Ownership of all necessary tools, including a full set of sockets and wrenches up to two inches. Valid CDL driver's license and medical card, or the ability to obtain a CDL. Duties The following duties are not arranged in order of priority and are not meant to restrict initiative but rather to describe minimum activities. These duties may be altered to suit the needs of the company:
Conduct safety inspections on vehicles. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Perform routine welding and fabrication work on vehicles and heavy equipment. Carry out repair activities on various pieces of heavy equipment. Interact with vehicle and equipment operators to determine service and repair needs. Maintain the shop and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Maintain accurate and complete work orders. Diagnose, service, and repair various systems found on pieces of heavy equipment. Troubleshoot malfunctions in equipment and perform necessary repairs. Overhaul engines, replace engines, and rebuild components. Assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques. Conduct road tests on vehicles.
