Position Overview Davey Tree Expert Co. is looking for experienced [5yr.min] diesel / gas ,medium- heavy duty truck and forestry equipment road mechanic. Employee will have roughly a 30-day training period [time may vary with amount of experience] before released on the road. This is a physically demanding, hands-on position. Overtime will be required during hurricane season . Some Saturdays will be required due to your workload.
Job Duties Responsible for equipment maintenance in Greater Knoxville and the Tri-Cities area.
You will be repairing trucks, Aerial units, chippers, tractors, tree cutters. stump grinders and all other forestry equipment. Training will be provided as needed
Repair work could consist of clutch, rear differential, transmission, turbo, etc. replacement in the field.
Welding will be required.
Communicating with the account managers and account GFs for scheduling work for each week.
Locating parts for equipment to be repaired
Filling out labor and parts forms plus time reports each week and emailing.
Keeping inventory parts on service truck.
You will be trained on aerial lift bucket trucks from diagnosing hydraulic leaks to yearly annual inspection.
Annual DOT inspections on all required equipment
Possibly 3-4 days away from home, based on your home base location if more than 1.5hrs away.
Average 50-60hrs per week (more for storm work)
Home mostly every weekend (excluding storm work)
Qualifications Must have a CDL A or B ! Must not have a fear of heights [aerial reaches up to 75']
Must have full complete set of tools including air or battery tools, Davey will supply all specialty tools
Must be able to understand hydraulic and wiring schematics
Must have experience in performing DOT annual inspections
Must have some welding experience
Must be experience with diagnostic software to trouble shooting diagnostic codes and computer literacy required.
