Position Summary: The primary role and the majority of the shift for this position is to transport patients via wheel chair, gurney and/or bed between hospital departments. This is a physical job requiring the ability to push, pull and assist in the transporting and/or lifting of patients on a daily basis. This position will be responsible for effectively communicating with Clinical staff to evaluate, document and verbally report patient status and condition, as well as completing "S-Bar Ticket to Ride" documentation. Additional duties include, but are not limited to clerical functions requiring basic computer skills as needed.
Substantial knowledge of the organization of an acute care hospital; proper safety practices, including infection control, body mechanics and hazardous material; medical terminology; safe transportation and operation of oxygen tanks and regulators. Ability to take instruction and follow established policy and procedures.

Ability to perform the outlined physical abilities. Effectively communicate with clinical staff, complete reports and documents regarding patient care and condition demonstrated competency in patient care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Basic computer skills. Excellent communication skills and customer service attitude. Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) through American Heart Association. Preferred: High School graduate or equivalent. Medical Terminology course. Bilingual preferred. Possess a genuine interest and concern for patients.
