The City of Worcester is hiring a Head Clerk for the Auditing DepartmentResponsibilities include auditing payroll, verifying calculations, and ensuring compliance with regulationsBilingual applicants are encouraged to apply
Job seniority: entry level
Responsibilities
• Audit all City payroll for accuracy• Review and verify department payroll entries for compliance with regulations• Review and verify fringe benefits• Resolve discrepancies and variations• Work with other departments to resolve issues• Prepare special reports• Ensure timely verification of information• Maintain tracking information in the computer• Collaborate with the Department of Information Technology• Provide excellent customer service and resolve conflicts
Requirements
• Knowledge of payroll regulations, laws, and ordinances• Prior accounting or bookkeeping experience with emphasis on payroll• Attention to detail and ability to interpret data accurately• Experience with data entry and administrative duties• Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships• Excellent communication and organizational skills• Ability to manage priorities and multitask• Experience providing excellent customer service and resolving conflicts• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite• High School diploma• Two years bookkeeping or accounting experience with payroll transactions
