The Personnel Officer will assist in the day-to-day functions of the Wayne County Sheriff's Personnel Office. Assist in the processing of FMLA Requests, Worker's Compensation Claims, hiring of new employees, and other duties as assigned.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBLITIES Assist with processing a new request for FMLA request via DocuSign Assist with employee new hire process for law enforcement/civilians. Assist with processing Return From Leave notices Update employee personnel files Process departmental new hires Process departmental separations Assist with the coordination of the jailer training process (physicals, medical drug screens, packet preparation) Assist with payroll transfers Update personnel database Schedule random drug screens (POAM & 3317) Process bereavement leaves Additional duties as required Requirements Associate's degree in human resources (HR) or a related discipline (essential) 2 years of experience in HR (essential) Exposure to labor law and employment equity regulations Effective HR administration Full understanding of HR functions and best practices Excellent written and verbal communication skills Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines Highly computer literate with capability in Office365 and related business and communication tools Fantastic organizational and time-management skills Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills Meticulous attention to detail
