QUALIFICATIONS: All states require cosmetologists and other personal grooming specialist like barbers and hairdressers to have a license backed by a 9-month diploma or associate degree from a state-accredited or licensed cosmetology school after finishing secondary school 2-3 years of experience in a similar capacity is an advantage. Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Explains and sells products to clients. Maintains workstation cleanliness throughout the day and disposes of soiled or used equipment at the end of each shift.
