Position Summary: The Guided Pathway Advisor 1 provides advising, support, mentoring and guidance to students under the Holistic Case Management Advising (HCMA) policy and resultant Guided Pathways Advising (GPA) program. Guided Pathways Advisors serve as the primary point of contact for students from admission to completion. Advisors support students in the creation of an academic and career plan and are responsible for monitoring student progress on their plan, conducting research, and providing and coordinating resources, referrals and support to facilitate student retention and completion and eliminate equality gaps that exist for black, LatinX, and other marginalized students when compared to white students.
The Guided Pathways Advisor 1 reports to CT State Capital Campus Director of Workforce Development and Continuing Education. The position may supervise and evaluate support staff, and student workers within the GPA program. This position requires extensive cooperative collaborative relationships with faculty, staff and other professionals in peer organizations and professional associations. The incumbent is expected to represent the College in a positive manner. This position maintains collaborative efforts between the academic division, student services departments, and other divisions, as necessary, to enhance student retention and completion.  Example of Job Duties: Under the direction of the CT State Capital Campus Director of Workforce Development and Continuing Education, the Guided Pathways Advisor 1 is responsible for implementing the Holistic Case Management Advising (HCMA) policy and the Guided Pathways Advising (GPA) program to improve students' abilities to successfully achieve their academic and career goals through effective performance in the following functional areas: Student engagement. Academic and Career Advising Retention and Holistic Supports Advising Program Development Technology Fluency and Data Analytics In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings.  These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and (1) one year of work experience OR a Master's Degree; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position's essential duties.
Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following:  Experience with programs and strategies to support first-generation, low-income, non-traditional, minoritized, and at-risk students. Experience utilizing technology for day-to-day task. Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual: Spanish. One (1) or more years of case management, advising or counseling experience, preferably in higher education.   Conducting intakes and making referrals. Demonstrated understanding of the complex and rapidly evolving field of Information Technology (IT), as well as the range of skills required for on the job success. Demonstrated organizational skills including the ability to initiate and complete assigned tasks with proficiency and independence. Ability to work flexible hours and to travel, as necessary within contractual limitations. Experience with student tracking for grant reporting in MS Office systems and other technology platforms. Experience working with continuing education/adult students Starting Salary: Anticipated Salary; $62,033 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits.  This Grant Funded position has the potential of renewal through September 2026.
