LEGO Discovery Center - Washington D.C. Guest Experience Host - Playmaker About the Role Do you have the Magic in you to create memorable experiences all for the love of fun? As a part-time Team Merlin Guest Experience Host Playmaker, you will help to create lifelong memorable experiences in our attraction for our guests. 
Playmakers are responsible for delivering consistent, proactive, and professional play for all guests of LEGOLAND Discovery Center. The Playmaker is the public face of Play who is expected to be able to inspire creativity and storytelling for both children and their parents. Playmakers will be interacting with guests throughout their shifts inside the attraction and should demonstrate an "always on" approach to top guest service.
Playmakers facilitate a fun and educational experience for guests participating in Little Play Times, Creative Workshop, LEGO Education Workshops, Birthday Parties, and more! You will deliver the highest possible standards of guest service, presentation, and product knowledge, as well as ensure that our guests are receiving optimal fun by connecting with them in a magical, fun, and safe environment.
Responsibilities: Adopts an enthusiastic, assertive, and passionate approach to Guest Service, and demonstrates the Merlin Values at every opportunity. Seeks out guest contact and displays enthusiasm and boundless amounts of fun energy. To follow opening and closing procedures as detailed in the department's operating plan. Responsibility to ensure compliance of Health, Safety & Security within the workplace, including COVID-19 policies, practices, and regulations. Playmaker Specific Duties: Little Play Times
Host monthly themed sessions for pre-schoolers and their parents Through storytelling, guide guests through the program that features creating a themed brick build, reflecting on the activity and sharing achievements, and showing parent and child simple ways to relax together after a day of fun. Creative Workshop
Host hourly workshops featuring a seasonal brick build LEGO Education Workshops
Engage students in the exploration of physical science. Guide students through different brick builds while explaining the science behind the project. Birthday Parties
Set up party room in advance, ensuring all décor and guest gifts are ready before birthday family arrives. Be engaging and positive while guiding party guests through the designated activities. Ensure the party moves at the correct pace – activity, pizza, presents, etc are kept on schedule. Seasonal Events
Run seasonal events as needed, which often offer activities such as: scavenger hunts, brick build activities, mascot meet and greet, dance parties. Experience in a customer service role. Experience working with children and families. Fun, dynamic, and friendly personality. Excellent communication, listening, and motivational skills. Able to work in areas with loud noises and confined spaces. Self-motivated, able to work independently or as part of a team. Must be flexible and able to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and special events.
