We are seeking inspired chefs that enjoy a fast paced environment.As a Grill Cook at the Virginia International Raceway, you'll create quality menu items in thriving, dynamic atmosphere. Join our kitchen crew at Virginia International Raceway. Our kitchen staff is expected but not limited to preparing cuisine for multiple dining outlets. Must be able to work nights and weekends. Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment. Kitchen staff will stand on feet for multiple hours at a time and will be required to lift up to 50lbs. The ability to adapt to guests needs while working under pressure is a must. This is a Seasonal position.We are searching for an accomplished grill cook to create meals in accordance with customers' preferences. The grill cook's responsibilities include preparing ingredients, informing waitstaff when orders are ready, and cleaning the grill after each shift. You should also monitor inventory to ensure that you have sufficient supplies at all times. To be successful as a grill cook, you should be a skilled multitasker who adheres to food safety codes. Ultimately, a top-performing grill cook will create and propound innovative dishes for inclusion on our menu.The beautiful, iconic Virginia International Raceway hosts a variety of experiences from auto racing to weddings to concerts! Everyday is a new adventure!Compensation: starting at $16.00 per hour depending on experienceResponsibilities:Prep food items ahead of time as requested, making sure not to prepare more than estimated needs.Return all food items not used on the next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems; control food waste, loss, and usage per standards.Date all food containers and rotate as per the food standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up. Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages.Receive and unpack items as they arrive from food vendors. Date all items as they arrive and pack them according to department standards.Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:18+ years oldHigh level of professionalismHigh school diploma/GED preferredExcellent verbal communication and organization skillsReliable transportation with valid drivers license requiredMinimum of Two (2) years restaurant or kitchen experience preferredComfortable working with a team in a fast-paced kitchen environmentAdditional Information:Please note this job description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities required for this job.
