Function: Assist in the design, contracting, installation and maintenance of various types of graphics and signage throughout the University of Texas at San Antonio Tri-Campus area.
Scope: Provides interior and exterior signs that comprise the signage and directional system throughout all UTSA facilities along with special signage and graphic requirements as needed to complete all work requests. Core Responsibilities Performs routine to priority scheduled sign projects in support of Construction Planners and Estimators. Creates, designs, develops, fabricates, delivers, installs, and repairs permanent and temporary signage for the UTSA campuses. Reads building plans, signs crafters/trade literature, and catalogs. Maintains existing sign fabricating systems and supplemental systems. Provides status updates with existing programs; documents and reports expended time, materials, and efforts using self-generated spreadsheets. Manages priority on-demand/rush and routine scheduled and unscheduled requests. Tracks stock levels, orders, and purchase materials and equipment. Removes and/or disposes of unserviceable signs, supplies, equipment, and materials. Operates PC-based sign-making programs and sign-making machinery. Meets with customers and project coordinators to determine sign requirements. Installs signage according to verbal instructions and in compliance with University & Federal guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned. Periodic:
Provides oversight of outside contractors providing signage fabrication and installation. Required Qualifications High School Graduation or GED. Valid Texas State Driver's license. Three (3) years of experience designing, producing, implementing, and maintaining a signage system. Experience with sign printers, engravers, and vinyl plotters. Ability to read and write English and perform simple arithmetic. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree in graphic design. More than five (5+) years of experience designing, producing, implementing, and maintaining a signage system. Additional Information UTSA is a tobacco free campus. This is a security sensitive position. Employment is contingent upon a successful background check. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire. Valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) as applicable. Working Conditions
Working Environment:
Typical construction site hazards may be encountered including underfoot and overhead hazards. Work requires some heat and cold when installing signs outdoors. Exposure to chemical and or chemical fumes; and exposure to high levels of noise. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events. Occasional after-hours and weekend work or overtime may be required. Physical Demands:
Use of scanner, plotter-cutter, engraver, beveller, various hand power tools, and standard office machines. This position will be primarily located on campus . Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Equal Employment Opportunity
