Graphic Artist Librarian Location Gunpowder, MD : Description: Graphic Artist Archivist Venesco LLC is seeking a Graphic Artist to serve as a Visual Information Archivist for the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Edgewood, MD. This position is a key and essential role for the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense-Chemical Casualty Care Division (USAMRICD-CCCD) by establishing an archival resource of historically significant educational materials that are currently inaccessible.
In this role you will: Complete the preparation and execution of archiving all historic video, photographic and presentation image content of the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense-Chemical Casualty Care Division (USAMRICD-CCCD). Develop and demonstrate a retrieval system for archived educational material, ensuring functionality for faculty course development. Identify hardware and software requirements for the archival system, ensuring that all local, DOD/Army, state and federal requirements are met and that formatting is compatible with existing systems. Review, analyze, and address quality of file images and following identification of content quality issues, modify or enhance such content as approved by CCCD. Create original graphic material when needed. Accuracy and consistency of content shall be considered in all products to reflect original intent, file identification and character of image file. Work cooperatively with CCCD staff to capture and sustain all historic course materials. Responsibilities: Hands-on management of archival processes Development of retrieval procedure for archived materials Image enhancement of multi-media materials Support of didactic presentations through improved access to historic content. In the position of Visual Information Archivist you will be working with the following: Database (numerous legacy video formats currently being updated to DVD and digital formats) Article Database (built using the index function of Adobe Acrobat Pro) 2x2 Projector Slides (image slides need to be digitized) CCCD Display Cases (Sidell Common Area, A Wing Entry, Vedder Sim Lab) - work to enhance display capabilities and protect materials exhibited there. Operate the WAVE (Wide Area Virtual Environment) simulation system for CCCD courses and MRICD tours (15-computer networked system with custom software that frequently experiences a variety of issues that must be resolved on the spot) Operate SimMan 3G Medical Simulation Manikins for CCCD course Prepare and support lectures for CCCD courses (organizing, checking for problems, loading and maintaining course laptop) Preparing and supporting CCCD away courses Must be able to pass a Secret Clearance, active is preferred, but not required.
