Compensation:
$75,000 - $100,000 annually

Housing Hope and HopeWorks agencies are the major non-profit developer of affordable housing and provider of human services in Snohomish County and Camano Island. Our mission is to promote and provide affordable housing and tailored services to reduce homelessness and poverty for residents of Snohomish County and Camano Island. We achieve this through a variety of interventions including social enterprises, children's services, subsidized housing opportunities and services, employment, education and training services.
Purpose:
The Grant Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial, accounting and grant support services in order to meet the needs of the organization and its grantors and donors. The Grant Accountant will focus heavily on budgeting, compliance, reporting, and variance analysis.

• Collaborate with program managers to develop accurate and realistic grant budgets.
• Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for grantors, including budget vs. actual analysis and narrative explanations.
• Coordinate with Grants Compliance Manager to gather necessary data for reporting purposes.
• Prepares, analyzes, and presents financial reports to Program Directors. Provides insights and strategies for sound fiscal management of funds.
• Ensures costs are properly applied to each grant Requires understanding of grant contracts and fiscal rules and regulations, including the Federal OMB Uniform Guidance Regulations.
• Participates in all program audits and annual audit, by preparing Grant Annual Reports and Schedules along with supporting work papers and documentation.
• Monitor grant expenditures to ensure compliance with grant agreements, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
• Identify and address any discrepancies or issues related to grant compliance.
• Recommend improvements to existing processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
• Implement and maintain strong internal controls over grant-related activities to prevent fraud, errors, and compliance violations.
• Provides various audit schedules to support audit activities.
• Actively identifies process improvements and takes initiative to take corrective action.
• Prepares general ledger journal entries to record activities.
• Supports Staff Accountant and cross trains on duties of other Accountants.

• The employee is regularly required to stand; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 
• The employee must occasionally lift, carry, push and pull up to 25 lbs. frequently. Items that are over 25 lbs. must be lifted, carried, pushed, pulled, or moved with proper equipment for assistance (dolly) and proper safety procedures must also be followed. 
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 
• Ability to work in a general office setting.
• Ability to work in a hybrid or fully onsite work environment. Remote option would not be available.
Required Education & Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• CPA preferred
• Experience working with grants in a nonprofit or governmental organization.
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP 
• Proficiency with computerized accounting systems; experience with mid -market accounting software packages (MIP, Sage Intacct, Microsoft GP, etc..), and Real Page/OneSite a plus.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Demonstrated leadership skills with a healthy work ethic, inquisitive mind, and the confidence and ability to get things done.
• Flexible and collaborative personality
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
