Gl Accountant - Hybrid - Remote

Position: Accountant (General Ledger Focus)
Location: Partially Remote (4 days remote, Tuesday onsite in Rockville)
Duration: 12 Months with Option to Extend
Compensation: Competitive Salary (Negotiable)
About Us: The company is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team on a contractual basis. This position offers a unique blend of remote work flexibility and in-office collaboration in the vibrant Rockville area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting G/L account reconciliation and bank reconciliation with meticulous attention to detail.
- Facilitating the monthly close process and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting.
- Utilizing advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, vlookup, sumif, and data sorting, to analyze financial data effectively.
- Operating ERP systems proficiently to streamline accounting processes.
- Providing expertise in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) to ensure compliance.
- Assisting in the preparation of financial statements and disclosures for various reports.
- Serving as a financial resource person and offering support in grant reporting.
- Managing retirees' pension payroll, including Maryland State Tax withholding and IRS reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Demonstrated experience in G/L account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and the monthly close process.
- Strong proficiency in ERP accounting systems and advanced Excel functions.
- Familiarity with governmental accounting principles (preferred but not required).
- Excellent understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
