Job Description:Summary:Barr is seeking a GIS specialist to join our renewable energy team supporting projects across North America. This position involves GIS work for renewable energy civil design and geotechnical investigation projects (wind, solar, and storage) including field investigation support, report figure creation, data formatting and editing, data management, data analysis, and quality control. The position will require identifying, determining, and communicating GIS best practices and resources for technical solutions for both internal and external clients. Project responsibilities may include working with and interpreting aerial photos, analyzing both raster and vector data, completing database entries and queries, working with web map applications, coordinating GIS work with other software applications (e.g., AutoCAD, Google Earth), and using standard GIS extensions.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in GIS, geology, environmental science, geography, or a related fieldExperience with Esri's ArcGIS 10.x Suite or ArcGIS Pro Suite for map creation, spatial data analysis, and data managementExperience sourcing and working with data and imagery from a range of public sourcesAbility and willingness to work independently or as part of a teamAttention to detail and strong organizational skillsA flexible working style, self-motivation, and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedule to meet project commitmentsCapacity to thrive in fast-paced work situationsConscientiousness concerning the accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness of resultsStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the futureValid driver's license and acceptable driving recordPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in GIS, geology, environmental science, geography, or a related field2+ years of post-graduate GIS experienceExperience in consultingExperience with USDA SSURGO soils data and geologyOne or more years of relevant experience working with Esri's ArcGIS Pro softwareField experience working with Trimble TerraSync or ArcGIS Collector/Field Maps/Survey123 mobile data collection applicationsExperience with GPS data collection and processingExperience working with Esri's ArcGIS OnlineExperience with ArcSDE Enterprise Geodatabases Scripting/programming skills (JavaScript, Python, etc.)Familiarity with AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, and gINTA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office.NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain, steep slopes, and dense vegetation.
