GDE Staff Accountant Location Hybrid remote in Washington, DC : Salary Range: $55,000 per annum Anticipated Start Date: ASAP Term of Employment: Full-time Base of Designation: Washington, DC or Brattleboro, VT Remote Eligible: Hybrid (once every two weeks in-office presence on average) World Learning seeks a Staff Accountant to oversee and administer a number of critical accounting tasks within the Finance Department. The GDE Staff Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, leading to the accurate and timely preparation of financial reports. The GDE Staff Accountant will be responsible for reviewing staff travel expense reports, AP payments, and corporate credit card activity according to World Learning policies and procedures. The GDE Staff Accountant will develop, possess, and sustain the ability to interact with numerous departments and staff at all levels (accounting and non-accounting professionals), with the ability to give, receive, and analyze information.
Responsibilities Review and approve GDE expense reports and corporate credit card reports in compliance with government regulations and World Learning policies and procedures. Process GDE employees' travel advances. Perform monthly reconciliations of GDE bank accounts, clearing accounts, and other balance sheet accounts as determined by the supervisor. Prepare monthly allocations for GDE shared expenses, including salaries, rent, utilities, and phone expenses. Manage GDE participants' debit card program, including issuing debit cards to participants and loading the cards with the appropriate amount. Clear checks in the accounting system and generate an outstanding check list at the end of every month. Prepare and submit general ledger journal entries as necessary. Track outstanding items for departing GDE employees, such as credit cards, expenses, and advances. Provide on-the-job training to GDE program staff members on Intacct. Complete special assignments and projects as assigned. Requirements Required Experience/Education:
Associate's Degree in accounting with at least 3 years relevant experience. Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other office applications. Proficiency with Purchasing and T&E module of Intacct Accounting Software is a plus. Required Behaviors/Competencies:

High degree of integrity. Ability to work in fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude. Vaccination is strongly recommended for all employees in our U.S. offices except for those receiving medical or religious exemptions. If boosters are subsequently recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) then employees and faculty will be recommended to receive the booster within thirty (30) days of their eligibility.
