Full job description Distinguishing Features of the Class Under general supervision, performs skilled and semi-skilled work with responsibility of the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Reclamation Authority's (WRA's) Renewable Natural Gas Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) System, Biogas and Renewable Natural Gas System Safety Equipment, Standby Power Generation, Heat Recovery Systems and other associated systems and assets.
Acceptable Experience and Training Graduation from high school or equivalent; and Two years of technical or trade school specializing in mechanical, electrical, electronic or similar equipment; and Four years of experience in repair and maintenance of stationary equipment at a water, wastewater, manufacturing or related facility; or Any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above. Please submit to the City of Des Moines Human Resources Department; electronically to , by fax to , or by mail to 1551 E MLK Jr Pkwy, Des Moines, IA 50317 Examples of Essential Work (Illustrative Only) Safely monitors the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the WRA's Renewable Natural Gas PSA System, Biogas and Renewable Natural Gas System Safety Equipment, Standby Power Generation, Heat Recovery Systems and other associated systems and assets. Schedules and plans routine maintenance on plant and pumping station equipment. Observes meters, gauges and other instruments needed for operating the complex systems in an efficient and sustainable manner. Monitors gas analyzer equipment to ensure gas quality compliance with specification requirements. Maintains accurate records. Shuts down, purges and Locks-out/Tags-out systems to accommodate maintenance practices and procedures. Re-energizes system components necessary to restart system after preventative maintenance and/or repairs. Assists designated staff as needed with recording data related to operating hours, temperatures, pressures and fuel consumption while maintaining operating logs utilizing paper forms and personal computers. Maintains cleanliness of assigned area within WRA facilities, pumping stations, structures, buildings and assets. Cleans tanks, structures and equipment using confined space entry procedures. Schedules and performs routine maintenance to minimize downtime, to maximize production, and to ensure Renewable Natural Gas production system and back-up power systems are functional. Observes all required safe work practices, behaviors and policies. Performs duties of similar nature or level as assigned.
