You're a plant person. We're plant people. So, let's combine our passion for plants and grow together! As the Annual & Perennial Department Lead, you are responsible for purchasing for this fast-paced product category and are critical to the success of this division. In addition to buying, your role is to be the be the model salesperson, giving memorable customer service through your knowledge and sales skills. Your main job duties are to place orders, provide sales and customer service, create a space and merchandise plan, and educate the staff on marketing and horticultural care standards.
To thrive in this position, you'll need a high level of horticulture product and care knowledge, 2 years of garden center experience, 1 year of sales experience, and buying experience. This is a year-round position with 30-40 hours of work per week, depending on the season. Weekend work will be required
What You'll Do Order annuals, perennials, vines, grasses and groundcover with input and oversite from the Store Manager Assist customers with purchase decisions Use Point of Sale system to process transactions Maintain inventory accuracy through inventory counts and POS reporting Be a lead on the AP sales floor Perform plant care Implement merchandising plans Train and coach the shared sales staff on marketing and horticultural care standards Diagnose pests and diseases from leaf samples and photos that customers provide We are looking for someone who: Has a high level of horticulture knowledge of annuals and perennials Displays exceptional customer service skills Has 1-2 years of retail garden center purchasing experience Is eager and quick to learn new tasks and maintain pace Shows up on time and prepared for work each day Can work in a fast-paced environment and stays calm under pressure Is able to lift 50 pounds daily Can push up to 200 pounds with castors Is able to push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, twist, climb, and squat Has legal documentation to work in the United States Must pass a pre-employment drug screening The Perks Our benefits include competitive wages, weekly paychecks, affordable health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick leave, paid holidays, 401K with generous company match, 40% employee discount, on-the-job-training, and opportunities for professional growth within the company.
