This is the entry level class in the Fleet Mechanic series with the expected performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned. May have only limited or non-directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.Individual accountabilitiesPerforms repairs and maintenance on Ready Mix Trucks, front-end loader, roll-off, andother site vehicles to maximize safe and productive operations.Inspect, adjust, and replace necessary units and related parts including valves, hoses,belts, and alternators.Repair cooling, fuel, electrical, and exhaust systems; tune engines using standard testingequipment.Diagnose, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems.Perform preventive maintenance work on vehicles, including lubrication and oil changes.Fabricate and weld to repair equipment as necessary.Pick up and deliver vehicles and parts.Clean and maintain the garage area and equipment.Road tests vehicles to troubleshoot problems and/or test repairs to ensure proper and safecompletion.Makes emergency road calls to make repairs on trucks that break down while driving adelivery routes.Reads and interprets VCR's (vehicle condition reports) and/or repair orders, communicateswith supervisor and/or driver for clarification of problems. May discuss preventivetechniques with drivers to minimize future repairs.Routine maintenance and repairing engines, chassis and body components, brake systems,suspension systems, wheels, and tires.Maintain records on all maintenance and repair work performed, track recalls, inspectiondates, and warranties for all vehicles.Must have your own personal hand tools.EducationHigh School Diploma or EquivalentTechnical knowledge and certificationsPossession of a valid Class B California driver's license with airbrake endorsement.1 year of preferred experience with fleet light//medium/heavy duty trucks.Knowledge and understanding of Electronic/Computerized diagnostic software a must.Ability to work independently.Ensure quality of work done meet highest standard.Area of experiencePreferred experience with SAP.Must have proficiency with Excel and demonstrated knowledge of computer usage.LanguagesEnglish C2: Advanced - Native$22 - $34 Per Hour#ZR
