Restoring Families .® The Fitness Program Coordinator provides Newport Healthcare clients with a structured, healthful way to exert physical energy and develop fitness skills and habits.
Essential Duties: Develop and implement structured, safe, effective, comprehensive, engaging, and equal fitness programming for male and female clients. Conduct group and individual sessions that include activities/games which develop strength flexibility, and cardio fitness. Create fitness plans and activities for individual clients as requested. Provide coaching to prevent injury and build motivation. Facilitate learning about the value/role of physical activity in internal control, empowerment, optimism, and recovery. Interact with milieu and encourage participation in activities. Encourage proper care and usage of equipment and facilities. Establish and adhere to a regular inspection schedule of all fitness programming equipment and facilities to ensure safety. Conduct ongoing review and evaluation of the fitness program, including feedback from clinical stakeholders and clients, and make appropriate changes. Instill enthusiasm about the importance of developing healthy exercise habits/lifestyle. Complete documentation timely and according to established standards. Communicate with clinicians, direct care staff, and parents as needed. High school diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree in Sport and Exercise Science or Kinesiology preferred.
