Electric Boat is the premier designer and builder of nuclear powered submarines for the US Navy and we are experiencing a period of unprecedented growth! We are looking for people who want to learn and grow within our Flight Operations Department. Currently we operate a Gulfstream 280 and two Beechcraft 1900D aircraft. The selected candidate will be part of our team delivering outstanding customer service and time savings to our employees helping to meet production goals. The First Officer will work along with our BeechCraft 1900D flight crew members ensuring all aircraft are operated safely, timely and efficiently. This position provides training, opportunities for advancement within the company, and requires some travel (~10%).
The First Officer assists the Captain in piloting the aircraft as a copilot and ensures its airworthy condition. They will assist the Captain in flight planning, preparation and management of the flight ensuring all operations comply with Company and Federal Aviation Administration regulations and requirements. Other responsibilities include:
Carries out take-offs and landings under the specific authority of the Captain. Is required to call the Captain and management's attention to any deviation from regulations, Company policy or safe operating practices. Remains compliant with company and FAA procedures, directives and regulations affecting the proposed flight. Performs the duties of the Second-in-Command (SIC) in accordance with Company Flight Operations Manual. Assists in performing a visual preflight (walk-around) inspection prior to each flight. Assists in performing a visual post-flight inspection after each flight. Assumes secondarily all responsibilities of the Captain and, in the event the Captain becomes incapacitated, full responsibility of the Captain. Performs other duties as may be directed by the Manager of Flight Operations, Chief Pilot or Captain. Performs additional non-flying departmental duties Required: High School Diploma or GED Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Pilot Certificate – Instrument - Airplane, Airplane Multiengine Land Minimum total flight time: 1500 hours Must maintain FAA First Class medical certificate U.S. Citizen Subject to pre-employment drug testing Subject to Pilot Record Database review Must be able obtain a DoD security clearance as a condition of employment Internal candidate must be from an organization outside of operations. Preferred: Multi-person flight crew operating experience Experience in Raytheon Beech 1900 or similar aircraft
