Fire Program Specialist (Office Specialist 2) Location Salem, OR (Southeast Mill Creek area) : Initial Posting Date: 03/11/2024 Application Deadline: 03/21/2024 Agency: Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Salary Range: $3,061 - $4,443 Position Type: Employee Position Title: Fire Program Specialist (Office Specialist 2) : Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Fire Program Specialist (Office Specialist 2) This recruitment is for one (1), regular, full-time position located in Salem, OR (4190 Aumsville Hwy SE) and is represented by Oregon Public Safety Association. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and may be used to fill future vacancies. What you will be doing: The Fire Program Specialist will be providing assistance and clerical support to the Fire Training and Certification program. Duties at a glance include: Providing administrative support for the National Fire Academy classes, or other assigned campus classes, course registration such as lodging, meals, etc. and processing acceptance letters. Process institute applications as needed, maintain fire training specific statistics such as student enrollment numbers, props, class numbers etc. As well as data entry for program training. Received fire certification applications for completion, runs necessary background checks. Creates and/or updates database files for fire personnel for information integrity. About DPSST: The Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) oversees the development of professional standards and the delivery of quality training for law enforcement officers, corrections officers, parole and probation officers, firefighters, telecommunicators, and emergency medical dispatchers. DPSST is also the regulatory agency that enforces employment and training standards for the above listed public safety disciplines and licenses proprietary security managers, security contractors and officers, polygraph examiners, and private investigators. Employees who are Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) participating members will have their base salary increased by 6.95% and pay a 6% employee contribution to PERS; the salary range noted above reflects base salary only. Onsite Cafeteria Onsite wellness options Minimum Qualifications: Two (2) years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents. OR An associate degree in any field. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience creating and updating files, entering information into databases, communicating information to students, employees, and constituents. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population, while providing exceptional customer service. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Publisher, and Outlook; Ability to work with various computer programs such as Adobe and SharePoint. Ability to work independently and within a team setting. Ability to produce accurate work at a high level of efficiency with accuracy, including managing shifting priorities and strong attention to detail.
