Position Summary: Serves as a liaison in explaining charges and assisting with applications for reduced fees and all other billing questions.
Reports to: Manager
FLSA: Non-exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Reviews required financial information with patients verbally and in writing.
Works with external agencies and assists patients with eligibility requirements.
Monitors all self pay, pending Medicaid, and less than full insurance coverage throughout hospital stay to evaluate and educate patients of their financial responsibility.
Assists patients with contacting insurance companies and internal insurance department when questions arise concerning services covered and payment of services.
Contacts patients via telephone, in person, and via mail in regards to current balance due and collection amounts.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Education
X High school diploma or equivalent ? Preferred X Required
X Associate's degree X Preferred ? Required
*Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Minimum Work Experience
X 1 year billing or insurance experience ? Preferred X Required
