About the Role:
The Division of Banks at DFI oversees the safety and soundness of Washington's state-chartered banks and trust companies. We are currently seeking two Financial Examiner 2 (In-training) positions to join our team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with an examination team in a dynamic, deadline-oriented environment. Your responsibilities will include analyzing and examining state-chartered banks and trust companies to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, as well as assessing their safety and soundness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with bank staff and executives to conduct examinations.
- Analyze financial data and assess bank capital, earnings, liquidity, and risk.
- Review internal controls, regulatory compliance, and risk management practices.
- Make recommendations for enhancing bank policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Prepare thorough written reports and documentation.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 20 quarter or 12 semester credit hours in Finance, Accounting, and/or Economics.
Desired:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
- Two years of professional experience in analyzing or examining regulated entities.

Work Environment:
Financial Examiners work in a collaborative team environment and may encounter challenging situations. The work is fast-paced with multiple deadlines and occasional travel within the state and out of state.
Travel Requirements and Work Schedule:
This position allows for remote work with occasional travel to financial institutions and DFI headquarters in Tumwater. The standard work schedule is Monday to Thursday, with alternating Fridays off, from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, and 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on working Fridays.
