Who We Are: Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) is the state agency that empowers Ohioans with disabilities through employment, disability determinations, and independence. It is accomplished through its Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR), Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI) and Division of Disability Determination (DDD). A fourth area is the Division of Employer and Innovation Services (EIS), which is responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships with employers.
What We Do: OOD works with partners in businesses, education, and non-profit organizations to facilitate customized employment plans for Ohioans with disabilities; helps Ohio companies recruit and retain employees with disabilities; and is the sole agency determining medical and vocational Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs in Ohio. This includes budget planning, revenue forecasting, expenditure monitoring, and financial reporting. Fiscal staff are responsible for ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the use of public funds, as well as identifying opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation. They may also be involved in long-term financial planning and analysis to support the agency's mission and objectives.
Financial Associate Position Overview: At OOD, a Financial Associate prepares, compiles, and verifies financial accounting data; generates reports to monitor and identify problems with payments; reviews invoices submitted to OBM Shared Services; assists with processing intrastate transfer vouchers; investigates returned checks; processes certain case service payments in the VR case management system; assists vendors with account questions; other duties as assigned.
Financial Associate Duties: Compiles and analyzes data to identify problems with payments and communicates solutions to appropriate staff. Reviews vouchers to determine if purchasing rules were followed, determines appropriateness of the coding and accuracy of payment. Applies coding to requisitions in Ohio Buys and ensures encumbrance does not exceed contract limits. Assist vendors with account questions. Qualifications 18 months' experience or 18 months' training in accounting &/or finance to include a basic level of experience in spreadsheet software.
OR Completion of high school technical program in accounting AND 6 months' experience or 6 months' training in accounting or finance to include a basic level of experience in spreadsheet software.
OR Completion of associate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field.
OR Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
