JOB SUMMARY The Connecticut Transportation Institute (CTI) is seeking a full-time Financial Assistant 2. This position will focus on the financial administration of the T2 Center and CAP Lab grants and require detailed attention to processing financial and administrative transactions while maintaining a complete set of records for the Department. The successful candidate will provide a broad range of financial and budgeting services. This position works under the general supervision of the center directors and will work collaboratively with a team of financial assistants, each having their own individual areas of responsibility. 
CTI is comprised of three research centers, the Training & Technical Assistance (T2) Center, The Connecticut Advanced Pavement Laboratory (CAP Lab), and the Connecticut Transportation Safety Research Center (CTSRC). The Connecticut Transportation Institute (CTI) was established at the University of Connecticut in 1974 and operates within the School of Engineering. CTI's mission is to conduct integrated multidisciplinary research, education, and related services that promote safety and efficiency in multi-modal passenger and freight transportation systems and, in turn, enhance livable communities, sustainable economies, and the environment. CTI brings together a critical mass of transportation faculty and research talent at the University of Connecticut, the top public research institution in New England.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Focused responsibly on financial tracking of grants and training payment processing. Provides financial, administrative, and program support for the assigned area. Monitors fiscal procedures for duplication, efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with required policies and regulations, making modifications as needed. Prepares regular financial statements of condition for each unit and makes available timely and accurate financial information, including budget projections and analysis. Assists in developing and managing department/division budgets and in maintaining budgetary control over the approved budget. Monitors, tracks, and maintains accurate financial records. Prepares reports, as needed. Submits, reviews, and approves financial and payroll transactions. Assists with grant proposal development, post-award proposal management, and grant-related issues. Updates and distributes budget request packages. Creates and disseminates budget reports. Manages invoice processing. Verifies purchase orders and available funds. Responds to and resolves a variety of financial questions and issues. Performs related work as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in a related field and two to three years of related experience; or Associate's degree in a related field and four to five years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the degree and years requirement.  APPOINTMENT TERMS This is a full-time, 12-month, position that will renew annually based on funding and performance. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate's background and experience. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
