Key Job Responsibilities:Perform accounting services for multiple parishes including payment of bills, posting deposits, creating and posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, month-end and year-end entries and closing, and producing financial statements.Prepare and mail annual 1099 Forms.Perform payroll using Paycom payroll service, reconcile Forms 941, W-2, and W-3.Review and reconcile quarterly lay pension reports and prepare invoice and remittance card for payment.Assist parish with determination of exempt vs. non-exempt employee, full or part-time for benefits eligibility.Assist with budget preparation and enter budget when finalized.On occasion, visit parishes to meet with the pastor, staff, or finance council.Special projects and other duties as assigned by Supervisor or the Director of Parish Finance.EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:Degree in accounting preferred;Minimum five years accounting experience, parish accounting experience preferred;Experience in accounts payable, payroll, reconciliations, and producing and review of financial statements;Experience in personnel and benefits helpful;Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite;Valid driver licenseCOMPETENCIES and QUALIFICATIONS:Have a positive and supportive attitude toward the Catholic Church, her teachings, and her work;Refrain from public promotion or approval of any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals;To view, approach and execute the responsibilities with the attitudes of service and ministry, to provide meaningful support and assistance to parish and chancery staff along with the patience to work, inform and teach individuals with varying training and experience in finance, accounting and business management;Polished and professional with excellent organizational, communication and group presentation skills.
