System One is currently seeking a skilled Field Operator to fulfill an immediate need!



This exceptional opportunity entails a yearlong contract, working onsite in Everett, WA. (Local candidates are preferred, as per diem is not offered.)



As the MCFR Field Operator you will divide your time between two exciting projects within the MCFR program:
Integrated Effects Test (IET): a non-critical, non-nuclear pilot unit that will spearhead molten salt reactor technology in the United States. For this project, the duties include, but are not limited to, fabrication, installation of insulation, and operational support of the system. Molten Chloride Reactor Experiment (MCRE) Mockup and Separate Effects Tests (SETs): For this project, your duties will include, but are not limited to, fabrication, troubleshooting, and operational support of both SETs and a small-scale salt batch purification system for the Mockup. This effort will support the Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR) program, including the operation of the MCFR IET and the production of salt for MCRE Mockup and SETs. Both projects are a critical step in the testing and development of the first reactor to be fueled by molten chloride salts.



Responsibilities Support salt purification/production Fabricate and insulate IET and SET components. Operate high-temperature pilot systems. Operate pumps, valves, heaters, blowers, compressors, etc.  Respond to alarms and problems within the system and take corrective measures. Monitor and control pressures, temperatures, flow rates, and levels to efficiently achieve desired operating results and ensure proper operation of equipment under current process conditions. Regulate and shut down equipment if necessary. Troubleshoot equipment, electrical, and instrumentation issues. Follow standard operating and emergency procedures. Perform energy isolation lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures. Complete system pressure and leak checks. Keep shift log of operations. Work a daytime shift. Wear protective gear as needed. Physically perform assigned duties and essential functions of the position. Carry out maintenance and operations in accordance with established methods and procedures. Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices in order to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify process change/enhancement opportunities. Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives. Report on-shift events and abnormalities during shift turnover to oncoming team members. Perform and record results of laboratory tests accurately and by required deadlines. Where necessary, generate corrective action reports for system issues. Ideal Background High school diploma or GED is required. Two years of experience in industrial plant operations (chemical, boiler, refinery, etc.); 4 years preferred. School or Military service may substitute for industrial plant experience. Math - basic algebra, fractions/percentages, unit conversion. Knowledge of operation and maintenance of pumps, electric motors, and motor controls, piping devices, hydraulic control systems, and other mechanical equipment. Personal computer proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets) and other software utilized by the company, including Control System Interfaces. Strong interpersonal skills to support team philosophy and strategy. Understanding of electrical, radiological, and chemical hazards and safety. Understanding and familiarity with engineered drawings. Ability to read meters and gauges correctly. Knowledge of tubing and tubing connections. Must possess (or be able to possess within six months of hire date) first aid and CPR certifications. Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.
