Field Operations Technician – BWX Technologies, Inc. - Technical Services Group - NOG - Lynchburg, VA Job Responsibilities: Perform field demolition of buildings (or structures), equipment, and systems (radiological and non-radiological) Perform construction activities such as installation, alteration, and repair of equipment, systems, buildings, and structures Perform radiological work in a radiological environment, or as defined as decontamination, removal, and/or disposal of radioactively contaminated materials and equipment in a historically contaminated facility Wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) necessary for protection from the hazards associated with the performance of assigned tasks. PPE includes but is not limited to anti-contamination clothing, safety glasses, safety shoes, goggles, face shields, hard hats, gloves, harness, and respirators Comply with health and safety regulations when operating equipment or walking on the job site even when not on active duty Perform Radiological and hazardous waste processing including size reduction and packaging into approved radiological waste containers Dispose of debris and hazardous materials according to customer and local environmental standards and regulations Perform walk-downs in preparation for job scope estimations and readiness reviews, as directed by the Field Operations Manager or Field Operations Supervisor Design, setup and maintain radiological and non-radiological containments (I.e., tenting, sleeves, etc.) Assist in preparation of field documents, including estimates, field work packages, radiation work permits, procurement needs, and safety-related documents Be able to work from heights, work from ladders and scaffolds and personnel lifts, and be capable of climbing and lifting to 50lbs. Education / Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent is required Technical or trade school certification, or military experience is preferred Individual must submit to and successfully pass a BWXT background check and initial drug screen and periodic drug and alcohol screening exams.  Individual must meet and maintain all the requirements and conditions for employment with BWXT TSG as outlined in the company policies. Five years of experience as a minimum in a similar work environment is preferred (D&D and or Construction installations). Possess, at a minimum, a Department of Energy (DOE) level "L" security clearance, or DOD clearance. Skills Must have ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and procedure Must be able to build complex assemblies using drawings or detailed work instruction. Electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and or controls experience is preferred. Pay: $62,000- $109,000
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $62,000 and $109,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.

Position requires U.S. citizenship with (no dual citizenship) ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test and previous employment reference verifications.
