The Corporate Headquarters are located in Grantsville, MD with several offices throughout the country. The general role of the Field Technician I – Fiber Optics is to string and maintain fiber optic cable which includes pulling, tensioning, stranding, and spacing lines. This individual will troubleshoot, maintain, and repair fiber lines. This position will perform new cable installs, removals, modifications, and repairs in outside plant locations to include telephone poles, underground services, and conduit. The Field Technician I is also responsible for terminating, splicing, documenting, and testing fiber optic cables with an end goal of meeting customer needs and providing maximum operating efficiency. The work performed will be within communications and power spaces.
This individual understands each product and supports the improvement of operational efficiency and must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces for this position.
The Field Technician I will report to the Project Manager - Fiber Optics and will work primarily out of their assigned location.

No prior experience necessary Valid Driver's License is required Experience operating the following equipment: ladders, bucket truck, cable puller, and reel stands preferred Experience operating small equipment preferred (i.e., forklift, bobcat, telehandler, skid steer, etc.) General construction and/or flagging experience preferred Ability to obtain and maintain MSHA Certification Must be comfortable working at elevated heights and in confined spaces Ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision Ability to inspect, operate, and mobilize a bucket truck preferred Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain professionalism Compute basic math calculations and take measurements Familiar with Microsoft Software such as Outlook, Word, and Excel Working Conditions Walk / use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneel Climb poles; carry, set-up and extend ladders weighing up to 65 pounds, as well as work with confidence on ladders and utility poles at heights of up to 60 feet in the air to perform tasks in communications spaces Work indoors, outdoors, and underground in various weather conditions Able to walk long distances Able to lift up to 65 pounds without assistance Additional Eligibility Qualifications This position requires the completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
