Position Summary Manages the daily operations at the Corey Marsh Ecological Research Center (CMERC) and Greenhouse at Tree Research Center part of within AgBioResearch at Michigan State University. CMERC is in Laingsburg, MI, focusing on natural resources, specifically inland wetland restoration and management. The Tree Research Center is south of the main campus in Lansing, MI, focusing on forest silviculture ecology, genetic tree improvement, and insect and disease management. Responsibilities for these two facilities include performing general farm operations, conducting administrative duties, and overseeing research logistics. Specifics of the job include but are not limited to maintaining operational records; assisting with oversight of maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment; assisting with research and teaching logistics from implementation, management, and maintenance of all projects; and interacting with the faculty, researchers, students, vendors, and community. The successful candidate will need to be/become a commercially certified pesticide applicator.
The position will report to the Assistant Director of AgBioResearch, within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Crop and Soil Science, Fisheries and Wildlife; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in supervision, daily farm management within all the wildlife, fisheries, animal groups and knowledge of crops and farm equipment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and a Pest Applicators Certification or other certification related to the area of employment.
