Nevada Gold Mines: Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering Co-OpPosition Description:Are you a metallurgical/chemical engineering student at a Canadian university interested in a co-op placement with the single largest gold-mining complex in the world? Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) - operated by Barrick - is seeking a highly-motivated student for an exclusive work-abroad opportunity! Spend 12 months gaining invaluable experience, while building your professional network in a team committed to your success. Let us help you reach your career goals!Responsibilities:Work closely with production and maintenance supervision, along with outside departments, to ensure environmental compliance, safe functionality of the plant operation, and maintenance of equipment. Assist with projects through all aspects of experimental design, engineering, construction, and commissioning. Support automation initiatives targeting data collection and/or process variance control. Support regular process assessments to identify opportunities to maximize throughput and/or decrease production/maintenance costs. Intervene, as necessary, to ensure the health and safety of all employees, as well as protect the environment and NGM assets. Qualifications:Enrollment in an undergraduate/graduate metallurgical/chemical engineering program at a Canadian university (required).Eligibility for a TN Scientific Technician visa*Must be age 21+ and possess a valid driver's license.Completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies (required).Ability to research, analyze information, and draw conclusions (required). Knowledge of commonly used water treatment process/techniques (preferred). Strong Microsoft Office skills (required). Basic knowledge of modelling/simulation tools (JKSIMMET, METSIM) (preferred).
