Job Description Summary: The Cato School of Education at Queens University of Charlotte invites applications for a visiting position in Education (full-time, non-tenure track) for the ******** academic year. The selected candidate will join a collaborative faculty dedicated to inclusive, innovative teaching.
We seek a versatile teacher-scholar who will be able to contribute to one or more of our graduate degree and/or certificate programs in Education (e.g., Special Education, Academically or Intellectually Gifted, Literacy, or Educational Leadership). The selected candidate will also teach undergraduate courses in the university's award-winning general education program and have opportunities to engage in scholarship, participate in service, and mentor students through advising and research experiences—all to enrich the academic life of the university.
Queens is pursuing a multidisciplinary data analytics initiative to strengthen students' quantitative skills, expand opportunities for students and faculty to engage in data science, and create community partnerships in the Charlotte area to use data to generate insights and solve problems. The ability to contribute to this strategic initiative through any or all following is desirable: domain expertise, experience using statistical software and statistical programming languages, discipline specific and general quantitative methods, and relevant experience creating similar high-impact educational opportunities.
The Visiting Assistant Professor of Education reports to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. This position is exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is not eligible to earn overtime pay or compensatory time off for additional hours worked. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Essential Requirements: Doctoral degree in Education with specialization and certification appropriate for teaching in one or more of the areas offered in our graduate programs Evidence of high-quality teaching effectiveness Familiarity with state and national teaching standards and accreditation requirements Commitment to cultivating learning environments that foster a sense of belonging for all students Qualifications Preferred Qualifications : Experience using technology-supported pedagogies and active learning to engage students Experience building education partnerships with school districts and other community stakeholders Non-Essential Duties: Other duties may be assigned as needed to meet department, college, and university goals.
