Effective immediately: (FT) Faculty Librarian – Library, Wilmington University, New Castle.
Requirements: Master's degree in library science or other relevant degree required. Must have excellent communication, customer service skills, and organization skills. Must be detail-oriented and able to work with diverse populations. Must be self-directed and able to make decisions independently. Must be computer literate, proficient in the use of various applications such as Microsoft Office and be versed in Information Literacy. Knowledge of research databases, internet searching, and familiarity with online course management systems and web-based tutorial software is expected. Must be committed to professional development in a rapidly changing work environment. The ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in any situation is necessary. Must demonstrate respect for diversity in the workplace and a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment that values the contributions of all employees.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Coordinate daily library operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery to students, faculty, and staff, both on-site and virtually. Coordinate on-site and virtual service schedules, ensuring staffing coverage and addressing staff absences as needed. Provides backup in the event of unforeseen staff absences. Supports training, supervision, and evaluation of FT/PT library staff. Oversees work-study operations – selection, training, scheduling, and oversight of work-study students. Coordinate interlibrary loan functions, both lending and borrowing of materials; train, supervise, and evaluate resource-sharing staff. Comply with national standards, including copyright laws and appropriate format for fulfilling requests. Supervise the processing of shared materials. Handle billing tasks, including sending overdue notices, maintaining records, managing material returns, and liaising with the Registrar and Billing offices. Serve as the liaison with Facilities and University Safety regarding maintenance requests/issues, library safety, hours of operations, etc. Lead Space planning initiatives. Maintain communication with partner institutions and site staff to ensure consistent services for WilmU community. Engage in outreach activities to promote library resources and services. Provide reference support, research consultations, and information literacy instruction to students, faculty, and staff. Serve as a member of the library leadership team in planning, assessing, delivering, and managing library operations and contributing to library policy development and strategic planning. Development of innovative approaches to problem-solving for information access and/or new library services. Preparation of substantial reports or studies either for internal or external purposes, involving research or the application of the librarian's professional knowledge and skills Participate as a member of Faculty Senate. Promote and foster an inclusive and diverse environment for all students, faculty, and staff. Perform other duties which may be assigned by the Library Manager.
Hours of Employment: The Incumbent will oversee evening/weekend operations including scheduled evening shifts. Generally, Monday-Friday with required evening shifts. Incumbent must be flexible with their schedule and/or hours to meet the needs of the department and/or the University. Travel to other sites may be required.Library Service hours include day, evening, and weekends: Sunday 12 p.m. -5 p.m., Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. -7 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. -5 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
