SPACE SYSTEMS Rocket Lab's Space Systems team is responsible for every satellite and satellite component made by Rocket Lab: from complete satellites destined for missions to the Moon and Mars, to the individual components and subsystems that make up a satellite like solar panels, flight software, reaction wheels and star trackers, separation systems, radios, and more. Our Space Systems team is made up of engineers, technicians, and designers who design, create, and put together our own satellites for missions across the commercial, government, and defense sectors, or who build and assemble satellite hardware and software that supports other satellite missions.
FACILITIES TECHNICIAN I As a Facilities Technician based at Rocket Lab's site in Silver Spring, Maryland, you will coordinate material shipping/receiving, facility maintenance, and projects related to facilities. WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO: Track and execute facility and equipment periodic maintenance tasksResearch, plan, and install new equipment in accordance with long-term facility plansSet up third-party maintenance vendor visits when necessaryCoordinate with tool calibration vendors as-neededIdentify and execute process improvement opportunities for facilities and equipmentAdhere to standard warehouse management principlesMaintain a tidy, orderly work area in accordance with the principles of 5SWork effectively with all staff towards the goals of the companyAdditional duties as reasonably requiredYOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:  High school diploma2+ years of experience in a similar role in aerospace, manufacturing, or relevant industriesTHESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE: Associate's degree in a relevant fieldDemonstrated skills to prioritize & execute multiples tasks with varying durations and deadlinesMechanical-inclination to enable cost-effective maintenance solutionsFamiliarity with common tools for home maintenanceCapacity to comply with the federally mandated requirements of U.S. export control lawsDesire to take initiative and own long-term projectsFamiliarity with air compressors, HVAC systems, and basic electric wiringPrevious experience operating a forkliftAbility to work collaboratively with other technically-minded employees ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.Must be physically able to commute to buildingsOccasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.WHAT TO EXPECT We're on a mission to unlock the potential of space to improve life on Earth, but that's not an easy task.
