Job Summary We are seeking an energetic individual with a keen eye to detail and a positive demeanor. The successful candidate will build required boards / skids for use in the Extrusion Department, operate and run machinery using related to equipment for the purposes of pipe production. The Utility Operator will conduct these activities while ensuring a maximum focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Principal Responsibilities Assist in the line operation of extrusion equipment used to produce pipe aligned with Ipex's procedures and protocols. Notify Supervisor and/or Lead Hands of any non-conformance or unknown conditions and facilitate corrective actions as needed. Perform quality checks using micrometers, calipers, and tape measures. Package pipe in accurate pallet sizes and quantities and document production; identify, transfer, and load material for production. Use basic hand tools and operate a forklift. Identify, remove and report scrap in compliance with work instructions. Support and stay in sync with the efforts of the Joint, Health & Safety Committee (JHSC); maintain acceptable housekeeping, environmental and safe working conditions. Inspect and report potential unsafe or hazardous conditions. Exhibit a working understanding of extruders and associated equipment such as hoppers and material loaders, extruder vacuum systems, regrind loaders and carbon black feeders. Requirements A high school degree or equivalent is required with the ability to read, write and do basic math. Must be knowledgeable in imperial and metric measurement systems. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred; plastics experience is an asset. Experience operating a forklift and comfortable using hand tools Detail oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be a self-starter with good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills coupled with an eagerness to learn. Good teammate including with a demonstrated ability to contribute to and cultivate a positive team environment Must be able to work 12-hour continental shifts (4 days on, 4 days off OR 4 nights on, 4 nights off) 84 hours bi-weekly; 7:00 – 7:00. Working Conditions Requires good mobility and involves considerable routine walking, standing for long periods, bending, and lifting in excess of 50 lbs. Fast-paced environment where a considerable amount of sensory attention is required.
