Employer Info Our client located in Houston, TX specializes in producing a wide range of biodegradable plastic products and manufacturers drinking straws that are completely biodegradable, chemical-free and natural.
Job Summary Our client is currently seeking for Extrusion Operator. This position involves setting up, adjusting, and operating plastic extrusion equipment, as well as cutting and packaging equipment, and operating a forklift.
Job Description Work within guidelines of our Food Safety Plan and be an active participant in developing and improving the sites safety culture Adjust, calibrate and test equipment at the beginning and during each shift to ensure proper dimensions, speed, temperature and various other aspects of the equipment are within operating parameters for final product quality Keep line loaded with materials needed to produce product from raw material through to finished packaging Work with team members, shift supervisors, managers, and all necessary personnel to ensure production objectives are met Work with team members, shift supervisors, managers, and all necessary personnel to correct any equipment problems or malfunctions, and to minimize any downtime Use various equipment and materials to properly maintain, clean, and sanitize equipment on an on-going basis to ensure out-going product meets/exceeds Food Safety program requirements Assist with making repairs to equipment when necessary, and replace any defective, broken, or worn-out components Training Requirement:
Material Handling Extrusion Forming, Sizing Quality Wrapping Packaging Shipping & Receiving Health & Hygiene Cleaning & Sanitizing Product/Consumer Safety Site Safety & Security Skills Required At least one year of experience in a production environment operating equipment Able to lift at least 50 pounds Demonstrated ability to read measurements using micrometers, calipers, tape measures. Able to stand for extended periods of time Good attendance history Well-organized and history of showing initiative. Work well in teams
Preferred Skills:
Experience within a company with a food safety program Plastic Extruder Experience Bagging/Boxing Equipment Experience Shipping/Receiving Experience Education/Training/Certifications High School Diploma or equivalent Additional Requirements Shift Hours: Monday-Thursday 7:00am-5:00pm. If orders continue to increase, Client would have to split the current and new workers into 2 shifts: Mon-Thur 7:00am – 5:00pm & 5:00pm – 3:00am. Possible OT Pay Rate/Salary $15.00 - $18.00/hr depending on experience. Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skill set and/or location.
