Job Summary
This position is responsible for any and all tasks necessary to put together a complete project estimate. This position manages projects from bid monitoring and preparation through project budgeting. This position will be responsible for projects of varying sizes and complexities including assigned projects. This position takes full responsibility for project estimation to ensure a successful bid and budgeting for the project managers and the company.
Job Responsibilities Estimating
Identify new project opportunitiesAttend pre-bid meetings and walkthroughsReview plans, specifications, and bid documents and procure all necessary information required for the estimateFollow up with General Contractors/Engineers on budgeting questions and pricing as neededPerform bid layouts, material counts, and prepare totalsPerform detailed material take-offs of project per systemProcure all necessary quotes and subcontractor coordinationCreate project estimates and prepare the proposals and documentation for submissionCreate budget for project managers and field foreman based off estimateBusiness Development
Attend meetings/interviews with customers/GCs to serve as technical resource and present/sell our plumbing capabilitiesEstablish and maintain relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and others in the industryAttend industry and MPFP customer eventsCross-sell other areas of the business to customers Qualifications Bachelor's degree in construction management or equivalent industry or trade experience5+ years of project estimating experience in the construction industry to include project estimating of medium to large scale commercial construction projectsTechnical knowledge and understanding of plumbing systems and codesGood technical skills in the design and construction of plumbing systems for commercial buildingsKnowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods, estimating, scheduling, safety)Understanding of job financial reports and the ability to apply these in budgeting awarded projectsAbility to read and understand plans and technical specificationsAbility to present yourself as professional and knowledgeableAbility to build new customer relationships while nurturing and maintaining existing relationshipsAbility to organize and manage multiple tasks, priorities, and projects effectivelyStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Proficient with take-off/estimating software (FastEst)
