Equipment Operator

The Equipment Operator position is responsible for handling and loading MSW, C and D waste, and Single Sort Recyclables to ensure materials are transported and disposed of in an appropriate manner. Efficiently transfer solid waste while operating loaders, forklifts and skid steers. Perform pre- and post-operation inspections on equipment and vehicles Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and vehicles Wash, lubricate and fuel equipment and vehicles Identify and sort materials from incoming loads Maintain grounds by picking litter, street sweeping, snow removal and dust control Perform building and other stationary equipment maintenance Direct customers where to dump waste material on site Scale inbound and outbound loads Ensure that transfer trailers are loaded efficiently but not exceeding DOT weight limits Communicate professionally with co-workers, customers, and County staff. Education and/or experience: 1. High school diploma or GED
2. Previous experience with heavy or light equipment
