The Kensington underground gold mine and associated milling facilities are located within the Berners Bay Mining District on the east side of Lynn Canal about 45 miles north-northwest of Juneau, Alaska.Responsibilities:Performs soil, groundwater, surface water, waste, sediment and air samplingPerforms employee environmental awareness training as neededCollect, review and analyze environmental dataInput data into an environmental databaseUses field instruments and equipment as necessary to meet health and safety as well as field sampling and O&M requirementsAssist with preparation of routine submittals to regulatory agencies to document system performance and compliance with permit requirementsDocuments all field activities and notesPerforms subcontractor oversightCommunicates effectively with project managers and client personnelHas a high degree of health and safety awarenessWorks within defined scopes, schedules and budgets while producing quality workMaintains knowledge of sampling procedures and protocols in accordance with recognized industry standardsQualifications/Educational Requirements:Ability to work safe and promote safe behavior in othersHigh School Diploma or GED required Associates or Bachelor's Degree in environmental Sciences or applied sciences preferredApproximately 1-3 years of environmental field experience in an industrial setting preferredEmployees may be frequently exposed to surface and underground work environments; outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, potentially hazardous wildlife; moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in most work environments is usually very loud.
