Coeur's headquarters are in Chicago, IL.Coeur Alaska, a subsidiary of Coeur Mining, is seeking an Environmental Technician for its Kensington Mine. The Kensington underground gold mine and associated milling facilities are located within the Berners Bay Mining District on the east side of Lynn Canal about 45 miles north-northwest of Juneau, Alaska.Responsibilities:Performs soil, groundwater, surface water, waste, sediment and air samplingPerforms employee environmental awareness training as neededCollect, review and analyze environmental dataInput data into an environmental databaseUses field instruments and equipment as necessary to meet health and safety as well as field sampling and O&M requirementsAssist with preparation of routine submittals to regulatory agencies to document system performance and compliance with permit requirementsDocuments all field activities and notesPerforms subcontractor oversightCommunicates effectively with project managers and client personnelHas a high degree of health and safety awarenessWorks within defined scopes, schedules and budgets while producing quality workMaintains knowledge of sampling procedures and protocols in accordance with recognized industry standardsQualifications/Educational Requirements:Ability to work safe and promote safe behavior in othersHigh School Diploma or GED required Associates or Bachelor's Degree in environmental Sciences or applied sciences preferredApproximately 1-3 years of environmental field experience in an industrial setting preferredEmployees may be frequently exposed to surface and underground work environments; outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold, extreme heat, potentially hazardous wildlife; moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; explosives and vibration. The noise level in most work environments is usually very loud. This position may require work on nights, weekends and rotating shifts; shift schedules may require residency in on-island camp during work rotations.Possess good computer knowledge (Microsoft Office applications, e-mail, etc.)Possess strong work ethic and problem-solving skillsAbility to get along with diverse personalities; tactful; mature; flexible.Ability to work independently and to accept responsibility, ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.Able to work in a remote outdoor environment, often in inclement weatherPeriodically work in an underground mine settingAble to hike several miles over uneven groundWork occasional weekends as scheduledSets high standards for self and others, builds trust, and takes accountabilityPreference given to Alaskan residents.It is the policy of Coeur Mining, Inc. and its direct and indirect United States subsidiaries (the"Company") to provide equal opportunity employment to all Employees and applicants foremployment.
