In this Environmental Planner role we are looking for a team member who has the intellectual curiosity and proactivity to perform and in some cases lead, multi-faceted analyses and evaluations related to environmental compliance for water resources projects requiring in depth knowledge and at least five years of professional experience. This is a mid-level opportunity in our ever-growing team of professionals focused on water-related projects. This opportunity is focused on collaboration, delivery, andclient service.
Our Northern California Water Practice focuses on water resources plans and projects: water supply and infrastructure, flood protection and restoration, wastewater, and recycled water. We have managed the environmental analysis, permitting, and implementation of hundreds of water resources projects for local to state-wide and national clients. From regulating agencies to water resource and land use agencies, we help our clients successfully complete plans and projects that have positive effects on water resources and the provision of safe and clean water throughout California.


Environmental Planner / Project Manager Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree with major course work in environmental planning, policy, and science, or a related interdisciplinary field
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience which includes conducting research and preparing environmental compliance evaluations and assessments. Experience with managing environmental projects for water related projects is a plus.
Be an effective team member and communicator who contributes constructively and cooperatively to solve project or team issues while working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Ability to prepare documents that are clear, concise, well-written and supported and have ability to present information understandably and speak persuasively about complex topics to colleagues, clients, agency staff, teaming partners, other project stakeholders and the general public.
Can work collaboratively with clients and interdisciplinary teams to deliver your projects on time and within budget and have developed and tracked scope, schedules and budgets.
Ideally an Environmental Planner who has significant experience working on water resources projects (potable and recycled water, wastewater, flood protection and/or restoration) , and with federal, state, and local water and land use plans, policies and regulations governing water resources in California, especially related to CEQA, NEPA, and environmental permit compliance; sustainability and climate change; and natural resource planning in the San Francisco Bay, Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta, and Central Valley regions, as well as throughout California in general.
An effective team member with excellent oral and writing skills who proactively identifies and contributes constructively to address broad project or team issues, providing mentoring and coaching to more junior staff as you progress to foster teamwork.


Environmental Planner / Project Manager Role and Responsibilities:
As an Environmental Planner, you will serve as project manager, deputy project manager, task manager, and/or contributing author for CEQA and NEPA documents for water-related projects. You will be responsible for coordinating task or project delivery schedules, handling project logistics, disseminating and maintaining related information and resources, assisting with budget tracking and invoicing, meeting with team members to gauge progress toward task completion, serve as the point person for team member or client questions, and deliver project assignments on time and within budget.
You will also consistently demonstrate your solid writing and attentive listening skills. Participate in and/or lead client meetings, and present information understandably and speak persuasively about complex topics to clients, agency staff, teaming partners, other project stakeholders and the general public.
Lead marketing and business development for selected tasks and/or projects of moderate complexity. These efforts will include having the responsibility for preparing scopes of work and budgets for proposals or contract negotiations, providing technical input, and participating in interviews.
Provide mentorship and support for more junior staff, including reviewing their work for accuracy and clarity and providing constructive feedback and career development guidance while working on projects together.
You will thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment and be able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines, while working on a team or independently.
