I. General Summary:
Responsible for managing overall control and implementation of new hire EHS training, legal compliance training, PMR Implementation, and TBA Internal Audit Systems.
II. Essential Job Functions:
A. Develop and deliver training and coaching for team members, contractors, and others on safety, security, and environmental issues to ensure skills competence, understanding of policies and procedures, and to maintain compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local regulations, directives, standards, policies, and procedures.
* Develop and deliver safety, health, and environmental orientation to new hires, contractors, and others as required.
* Create and maintain the Safety Dojos at TBKY plants.
* Conduct annual safety compliance training.
* Conduct annual environmental compliance training.
* Assist the EHS Manager and other members of management in the implementation of training programs to meet all TBA, TBKY, local, state, and federal requirements.
* Conduct CPR/AED, first aid, and blood borne pathogen training as required.
* Perform in various roles on emergency response teams including first responder and incident commander.
* Administer lockout/tagout, electrical safety, overhead crane safety, hearing protection, respiratory protection, hazard communication, hazardous waste operations (HAZWOPER), blood borne pathogens, emergency response, etc. programs.
* Consults and coordinates with other professionals including industrial hygienists, physicians, environmental engineers and safety engineers in the development of effective training programs for all team members.
B. Management of training records, tests, evaluations, and certifications.
* Develop and implement safety policies and procedures based on program needs, laws, regulations, and TBA/TBJ standards.
* Maintain required paperwork, records, and documentation related to training to comply with OSHA, state, and TBA standards.
C. Provide inspirational leadership to foster an atmosphere of safe work.
* Influence behavior and inspire commitment on the part of all team members in complying with safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment.
* Be a resource for team members to report unsafe conditions and act quickly to escalate immediate hazards.
D. Manage the PMR systems for TBKY
* Perform annual audits of the PMR system for Safety and Environmental programs.
* Complete Objective Evidence binders for each location and program.
* Document open issues in the PMR system.
* Work with the TBKY management team to identify and implement countermeasures to improve PMR scores.
E. Manage the TBA Program Compliance Audit Program
* Perform annual audits of the Compliance Audit system for Safety and Environmental programs.
* Complete Objective Evidence binders for each location and program.
* Document open issues in the Compliance Audit system.
* Work with the TBKY management team to identify and implement countermeasures to improve Compliance Audit scores.
* Attend TBA Compliance Audits
F. Monthly Reporting and Metrics
* Create monthly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports for T/M training.
* Identify and inform management of compliance issues and improvement opportunities
G. Attend necessary seminars and training to maintain and update skills in industrial safety, environmental law, and federal and state occupational safety and health laws and regulations for effective training delivery and management.
III. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
Education:
* Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental or related field preferred but not required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred with experience in the automotive industry.
* Certification as Occupational Safety and Health Technician (OSHTEC), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) a plus, but not required. ISO14001 Lead Auditor Certification, (preferred)
* OSHA 30, CIAQM, Train the Trainer Courses for Qualified Work (PIT/Crane/Confined Space/Electrical/Etc. a plus
Experience:
* Entry to four (4) or more years of relevant experience working in a manufacturing plant.
* Experience in preparing and delivering hands on training (priority).
* Experience in manufacturing and/or the automotive industry preferred
* Entry to four (4) years diversified experience in safety, environmental, training, and/or manufacturing (preferably automotive).
* Experienced in emergency response and be able to maintain current First Aid and CPR certificates.
* Experienced in lockout/tagout, electrical safety, overhead crane safety, hearing protection, respiratory protection, hazard communication, hazardous waste operations (HAZWOPER), blood borne pathogens, emergency response, etc.
Personal/Technical Skills:
* General manufacturing and industrial equipment knowledge required.
* Thorough understanding and working knowledge of TBA's organization, automotive plants and processes/principles, company products, trade terminology, and manufacturing processes, tooling and equipment, and machine operation is a plus.
* A basic knowledge of regulatory requirements including federal and state safety and health laws (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT, EPA Risk Management Plans, and Industrial Hygiene).
* Effective presentation and writing skills.
* Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.
* Strong leadership qualities.
* Excellent problem solving skills.
* Hands-on, self-starter with a strong work ethic.
* Ability to train and transfer knowledge to plant personnel.
* Ability to work with multiple departments and prioritize activities.
* Ability to maintain on call flexibility to control abnormal conditions.
* Must be able to work a fixed or rotating shift schedule, including daily or weekend overtime.
* Ability to clearly communicate and work well with TBA corporate and plant team members at all levels.
* Demonstrate a personality that works in cooperation with other departments towards building a sense of company teamwork.
* Strong organization, time management, and planning skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
* Ability to compile effective and concise visual reports.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues.
* Promote a positive commitment to corporate values, and integrity to ensure success of a safe and environmentally friendly culture.
* Must be able to work hands on to conduct effective training.
* Willing to escalate as needed to management to ensure that KPI targets are achieved.
Language Skills:
* Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
* Japanese, Spanish, and/or Portuguese would be helpful.
Computer/Software:
* Solid working knowledge and demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.).
IV. Work Environment/Conditions:
Office: Open Office Environment, moderate noise level.
Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.
Travel: Must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time (daytime travel), up to 10% of the time (outside TBKY facilities). Travel to all manufacturing plants within TBKY to conduct EHS training on all shifts as necessary.
V. Physical Demands:
Ability to sit and work on a computer for extensive periods of time is required. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear. The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time (e.g., during safety audits) and may be occasionally required to lift up to 33 pounds. The ability to travel by automobile and airplane are both required.
