Our client in Iowa is looking for an
Environmental Health & Safety Manager . This is a
Direct Hire
position.
The Business area develops, produces and markets products, systems and intelligent components made from rubber, plastic, metal and textiles. These products are used in mining, the agricultural industry, railway engineering mechanical and plant engineering, the automotive industry and other important sectors of the future.
Coordinate all EH&S activities for the plant.
Align and transform group and BA EH&S strategy into action plans and ensure implementation.
Contribute to strategic and operative planning of the plant/operations unit (e.g. with respect to investments, capacity and headcount planning).
Live and promote the EH&S principles and methods (e.g. advise Plant Management on al EH&S aspects).
Plan and implement occupational safety (e.g. safety briefings, legal obligations, hazardous substances management) according to standards.
Plan and implement environmental protection (e.g. legal obligations regarding hazardous substances management, waste management, emissions and risk control and management, etc.) according to standards.
Plan and implement medical services (e.g. plant medical officer, workplace ergonomics, industrial hygiene management, etc.) as well as occupational health management according to standards.
Implement external (e.g. ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO50001) and internal (e.g. EH&S manual, tools, KPIs) EH&S standards and legal requirements and provide feedback and input for further development of standards.
Ensure structured root cause analyses of incidents, define and implement sustainable measures. Operate EH&S performance monitoring (e.g. by KPI and target tracking) and identify, prioritize and implement EH&S improvements (e.g. for work instructions, etc.).
Provide feedback and input for further development of standards regarding EH&S processes (e.g. workshop concepts, methods, tools, etc.) to segment, BU or BA functions.
Lead plant environmental health and safety committee (define targets, plan and implement personnel training, act as point of reference with plant unions and RLS, identify and propose corrective actions, gather feedback and suggestions for continuous improvement, make EHS policies/rules/procedures available).
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree minimum, preferably in safety management, environmental science or related discipline and 7 years of relevant professional experience.
3 or more years of experience in industrial production processes.
Experience preferably in operational units with functional and disciplinary responsibility for other individuals.
