Job Summary For those interested in Seed Technicians role, then this is the perfect job for you. You will be responsible for seed production within a location. Additionally, activities may require bending and lifting, long periods of sitting or standing.
Job Description Seed Laborers are involved in all facets of seed production within a location. Indoor seed processing and packaging activities may include receiving, scanning, cleaning, treating, sorting, counting, labeling, or warehousing seed. Outdoor activities may include planting, pollinating, note taking, data entry, hand harvest. May be responsible for preventive maintenance of equipment in assigned areas. R&D positions may also include electronic data collection in field and laboratory settings utilizing PC and handheld data collection devices. Manufacturing (Production) positions may also include organizing, moving, and placing seed into storage, maintaining inventory accuracy utilizing electronic inventory systems. Activities may require bending and lifting, long periods of sitting or standing. Extended hours may be requested during the peak seasons. Skills Required Must be able to understand verbal and written task and safety instructions delivered in English, and to perform assigned tasks accurately. Must be able to adhere to all client SOPs and to support all site safety requirements. Previous experience with MS Office / Excel and other standard computer and software systems may be required. Basic mechanical ability / understanding of equipment maintenance (able to operate and trouble shoot equipment) may be required. Education/Training/Certifications High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and / or related experience may be required. Additional Requirements Must be able to pass drug screen & criminal background check Work/shift hours and days: Plant Monday through Friday, possible Saturdays depending on workload. Two shifts, day shift and evening/night shift, 10 hours each, 6a-4p, 4p-2a shifts will be assigned. Field Work six days a week, one day off – day off may be any day of the week but will be that day consistently. Start work at 6am, end by 4p, 10-hour days. Ability and/or willingness to learn and operate a forklift. Personal vehicle driving to and between fields. IMPORTANT NOTE for POTENTIAL US CANDIDATES: Our client expects its colleagues to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Colleagues are also expected to disclose their vaccination status and if fully vaccinated, provide proof of vaccination status to Occupational Medicine. Our client defines fully vaccinated in alignment with CDC which is two weeks after completing the two-dose vaccine regimen or two weeks after completing the one-dose regimen.
