Department Summary The mission of Safety and Risk Services (SRS) is to collaborate with all campus constituents (students, staff, faculty, and visitors) and the surrounding community, to safeguard life and health and mitigate threats to the university's core mission of academic excellence, research, and public service. The Safety and Risk Services Division comprises the following departments, programs and teams; Emergency Management and Continuity, Environmental Health and Safety, Location Innovation Lab-Campus Mapping, Risk Management and Insurance, University of Oregon Police Department, Enterprise Risk Management Program, and various enterprise-wide teams (e.g., University's Incident Management Team, Behavioral Evaluation Threat Assessment Team, Campus Vulnerability Assessment Team, etc.). SRS fulfills its mission by providing a variety of professional services, technical assistance, interdisciplinary facilitation and collaboration, principled problem solving, training, and regulatory oversight. SRS is a division within the Finance and Administration portfolio. Finance and Administration is a vibrant and varied portfolio serving all aspects of campus life. Position Summary The Enterprise Risk Management Project Manager (ERMPM) position is part of the Office of the Chief Resilience Officer and reports to the Chief of Staff & Senior Director of Operations. The UO has an active and maturing ERM program and process. A significant partner in the program is the Strategic Enterprise Risk Management and Compliance Committee (SERMC), created by the President. The ERMPM operationally supports SERMC and the CRO/VP in continuing to advance the ERM program. The ERMPM will manage cross-functional, interdisciplinary workgroups and teams assigned by SERMC. The position requires working with and maintaining confidential and sensitive data generated by SERMC risk and threat assessments, workshops, interviews, and surveys. The ERMPM is responsible for beginning-to-end project management for SERMC charged workgroups. The ERMPM is expected to exercise independent judgement in the execution of all tasks in alignment with the expectations of SERMC. The candidate will work to support SERMC workgroups and internal customers while staying within the scope, budget constraints, and timelines decided by the chairs and members of SERMC workgroups. The ERMPM will be responsible for data generation and reporting for the ERM program and SRS unit as assigned. In addition, the ERMPM will develop education and training program materials and courses for the ERM program and other SRS initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an eagerness to provide effective solutions and maintain a positive and flexible approach, including the willingness to learn and master new skills. They will effectively manage a diverse array of work and competing priorities, which may be reorganized on short notice. The incumbent's most important competencies are as follows: the ability to exercise discretion, as well as independent and informed judgment; the ability to maintain a professional-level skillset as it relates to organizational communication and critical thinking; the ability to manage tasks proactively and effectively without direct supervision, and; the ability to collaborate across a large team to help drive the success of the ERM program and the SRS unit. The incumbent must establish and maintain a strong network of working relationships across SRS, including its process partners, and across the University.
Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Three (3) years of demonstrated success in a position with the similar level of analytical complexity and project management. Professional Competencies Demonstrated knowledge of risk management or policy frameworks within a large and diversified organization. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; high-level writing and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize work as needed, effectively manage competing priorities, and accurately complete highly detailed and time-sensitive work. Proficiency with MS Office applications, databases, and related automated systems. Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all levels. Proven analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to establish positive working relationships. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Experience in a similar position at an institution of higher education or complex organization. Experience using Smartsheet, Origami or similar tools for ERM. FLSA Exempt: Yes
